21) Link from website
Note: We recommend WinAmp or MusicMatch for Windows systems.
Musicmatch v.7 and above has the mp3PRO plugin. Download the mp3PRO plugin for WinAmp from this URL:
http://www.streamreel.net/download/mp3PROAudioDecoder.exe
We recommend Audion for Macintosh systems. Download player:
http://www.streamreel.net/download/Audion_install.sit
WinAmp, Audion, MusicMatch, iTunes - create pointer file
- use clear text editor (textedit or notepad)
- type URL i.e. http://69.50.196.72:8000/radioe
- save as *.m3u or *.pls (.m3u is the universal mp3
playlist extension, .pls is winamp's extension. Either
will work)
- link to webpage (sample code)
test winamp, itunes, musicmatch
- hint: place pointer file (*.m3u) in same directory
as the webpage
Windows Media - create .asx or .wpl pointer file
- connect to broadcast - File > Open URL (ctrl+u)
enter URL i.e. http://69.50.196.72:8000/radioe
- click OK
- when connected select File > Save Now Playing As
- choose save location, file name (*.asx or *.wpl),
save as type (generally .asx is prefered), click save
- link to webpage (sample code)
test windows media player
- hint: open *.asx with text program, edit Parameter
Name "Name" and "Title". See Windows Media tutorial:
http://www.streamreel.net/download/WM_tutorial.zip
- hint: place pointer file (*.m3u) in same directory
as the webpage.
- hint: If hosting on unix system you must
enable the mime type. Set .asx and .wpl mime type to
application/mplayer2 (recommended) or video/x-ms-asf
Quicktime - reference QT_tutorial.zip
http://www.streamreel.net/download/QT_tutorial.zip
use icy transport protocol - i.e. open URL
icy://69.50.196.72:8000/radioe
Real Player - create .ram pointer
- use clear text editor (textedit or notepad)
- type URL i.e. http://69.50.196.72:8000/radioe
- save as *.ram
- link to webpage (sample code)
test real player
- hint: place pointer file (*.m3u) in same directory
as the webpage
- hint: If hosting on unix system you must
enable the mime type.
set .ra and .ram mime type to:
audio/x-pn-realaudio
set .rpm mime type to:
audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin
- note: It is hard to imagine a program being more
invasive than a Windows program. Real Player is just
that. From stealing file extensions to sending all
kinds of info about you back to the mother nest it
just doesn't stop. Don't install it unless you must.
There is a glitch (so says Real) with connecting to
an Icecast stream so it won't work unless you're on
a Mac or you're using v.10 on Windows.
